THE SHOREDITCH CONSUL: INTERACTIVE GUERRILLA OPERA
The Shoreditch Consul brings together The Wedding Collective theatre company and The London Youth Gospel Choir in conjunction with the Refugee Council for a three night performance based on Gian-Carlo Menotti’s powerful drama ‘The Consul’ (1949). From encounters with secret police to the loss of self and place, The Shoreditch Consul is a flight into darkness audiences will never forget. Bring Your Own Torch to the show.

INIVA : WHOSE MAP IS IT?
This exhibition challenges our idea of the map, with artists from countries such as Palestine, Colombia, the UK and Morocco. See Susan Stockwell’s new view of the Thames river map using cut-out road maps and exploring the North - South divide. Interact with a dance–inspired map and recording by Gayle Chong Kwan and learn some Rumba techniques, and have a go at Oraib Toukan’s magnetic puzzle map of the Middle East. Explore a fascinating new world of maps and possibilities.

PEER : BRIDGET SMITH – NOBODY ELSE EVEN KNOWS
For her exhibition at PEER, Bridget Smith will exhibit five photographs and a 12-minute film portrait that were produced in Tokomaru Bay, a small town on the remote eastern cape of the North Island of New Zealand.

GLOVES ON
Ragroof presents ‘Gloves On’ in Shoreditch Park- a new outdoor theatre show developed with the boxing clubs in East London.
Gloves On is an outdoor theatre show set in and around a full size, floodlit boxing ring. The show explores boxing and its place in the British psyche, conveying the emotional and physical challenges a boxer experiences.
Gloves On investigates the intricacies of courage, masculinity and honour, ritual and spectatorship. In front of a fairground style façade a barker whips up the crowd, and introduces his fighters for the evening’s spectacle.
